Long overdue update
As you've probably noticed I haven't updated the blog for years (yes it really is that long). So what's been happening?
We moved house. This meant giving up on the allotment, which was no great loss given the new people running the site were doing so to help their mates get plots. I'm now on the waiting list for a plot near the new house.
In the meantime i've been able to take over almost half of our new garden to use as a plot. I'm still sorting it out, but have had a few successes so far:
1. Peas - seem to really like the soil up here, ended up with bucket loads.
2. Onions - also like it up here, didn't grow too big, but did all grow
3. Shed - sitting on a base of 2 tonnes of concrete. Still standing
4. Raspberries - growing like weeds. Still picking in early december 2009.
A disaster
1. Dog - Minardi the Cocker Spaniel arrived. He decided to help with digging over the plot - all of it in the middle of summer. Garlic, gone. Asparagus, gone. Beans, gone. Strawberries, gone.... you get the picture.
Anyway the garden is currently covered in a foot of snow so nothing is happening at the moment, but pretty soon things will clear up and posting with recommence.
